Carsten Mortensen
Group CEO 


Carsten Mortensen is CEO of BW Group and Board Member of BW Offshore Limited, BW LPG Limited and BW Pacific Limited. He is also Director of DHT Holdings, Inc. 

Mortensen has over 30 years of shipping experience, of which 11 years were spent at A.P. Møller-Maersk and 17 at D/S Norden. His previous appointments include CEO of D/S Norden from 2005 to 2014 and Managing Director of Maersk Broker (UK) Ltd from 1995 to 1997.

Mortensen was a Board Member of the Danish Shipowners Association (DSA) and its Chairman from 2011 to 2014. He served as Board Member of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) from 2009 to 2011. From 2012 to 2013, he chaired “Vækstteam” (or Growth Team), an initiative by the Danish Government to create jobs in the Danish Maritime Cluster.
Mortensen received his training in shipping at the Maersk Shipping School and further executive qualifications from INSEAD, Wharton and IMD. He holds a Graduate Diploma degree in International Business (HD-U) from Copenhagen Business School. 

Mortensen was awarded Knight of the Order of Dannebrog in 2013. 

Jakob Bergholdt
Group CFO

Jakob Bergholdt  is CFO of BW Group. He has over 20 years of international finance, shipping and logistics experience across various industries and in both listed and private businesses.

Prior to BW Group, Bergholdt was Chief Financial Officer, Asia at Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN in 2012 before he was promoted to Group Vice President and CEO of NORDEN Singapore after a year. He has also held CFO and other senior management roles with Cognita and the AP Møller-Mǽrsk Group. Bergholdt began his finance and shipping career at AP Møller-Mǽrsk in 1993, where he progressed over the years to become the regional Chief Financial Officer, Asia Pacific Region for DAMCO.

Bergholdt holds an MBA (Hons) from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a HD Degree (Financial and Management Accounting Degree) from the Copenhagen Business School, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and Business, also from the Copenhagen Business School.

Lars Pedersen
Managing Director, BW Fleet Management and Country head, Norway

Lars Pedersen joined BW on 1 October 2011, as head of fleets for LPG and LNG. In October 2013, Pedersen took on the position of Managing Director of BW Fleet Management and Country Head of Norway.

Pedersen holds a Marine engineering degree from Svendborg International Shipping Academy. Pedersen started his career as an engineer cadet at A.P. Moller – Maersk and ended his career at sea as Chief Engineer in 1998 and moved on to various shore positions within A.P. Moller – Maersk. In 2008, Pedersen joined Höegh Fleet Services as fleet manager overseeing the technical operation of LNG and car carriers.

Yngvil Eriksson Åsheim
Managing Director, BW LNG

Yngvil Åsheim is the Managing Director of BW LNG and is responsible for BW's move into LNG infrastructure projects.

She joined BW on 1 November 2010 as Managing Director for BW Fleet Management and became Managing Director for BW Shipping in October 2013; and Managing Director for BW LNG in November 2015.

She holds a Masters in Marine Engineering from the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTNU). Åsheim started her career at DNV as a surveyor in 1993 and held various positions within the classification society.

In 2002, she joined Höegh Fleet Services, where she started as a fleet manager. After a year, she took on the role of President, responsible for all ship management activities for the Höegh Group. Subsequently, she was appointed as EVP of Höegh Autoliners responsible for global operation and ship management.

Åsheim has also held several board positions and is currently a Director of Gard P&I (Bermuda) Ltd.

Nicholas Fell
Senior Vice President, Corporate Services and General Counsel

Nick Fell joined BW on 9 January 2012 as head of Corporate Services and General Counsel, and holds responsibilities for the Legal, Insurance, Corporate Secretarial and Communications departments. He holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago, a Master of Laws from the University of Leicester and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Liverpool. He is admitted to practice law in England, New York, California and Hong Kong.

Prior to joining BW, Fell was Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel for AET Group (formerly known as American Eagle Tankers) based in London, where he led the Group’s Legal, Risk Management and Compliance, HR and IT functions.

From 1999 to 2005, Fell worked in San Francisco as In House Counsel at GATX Financial Corporation, where he was responsible for the shipping, aviation and technology businesses worldwide.

Fell is currently a Director of North of England P&I Association Limited.

Sebastien Brochet
Senior Vice President, Strategy, Corporate Development and HR

Sebastien Brochet joined BW on 3 September 2013, as Vice-President for Strategy & Corporate Development. In December 2013, he also took on the responsibilities for Human Resources. 

Before joining BW, he worked for Bain & Company, spending eight years in its Energy and Industrial Practice in Singapore, Dubai and Paris and leaving as a Principal.  Prior to that, he held various operational responsibilities (industrial, purchasing) in the Chemical industry, at Rhodia in Asia Pacific.

He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Master degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Technology of Compiegne in France.

Billy Chiu
Senior Vice President

Billy Chiu has been with BW since 1985 and has more than 25 years of experience in the shipping industry. Chiu's current role as SVP oversees the Quality and Compliance unit, the Dry Cargo business segment, and Commercial teams.
Chiu was appointed as Director of Commercial and Operations in 2003 and later as SVP of Commercial (Tankers). From 2002 to 2003, Chiu was Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for operations, manning, fleet systems and purchasing. Billy also oversaw the Corporate Affairs and Compliance division of the company from 2011 to 2016. 

Before 2002, Chiu held senior management positions within World-Wide Shipping Agency (Singapore) Pte Ltd, first as Manager, Commercial, between 1995 and 2000 and subsequently as Vice President, Commercial, between 2000 and 2002. From 1990 to 1995, Chiu was Manager, Commercial, in World-Wide Shipping’s Japan office.

Chiu graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Social Science degree, majoring in management studies and economics. He holds director positions at the International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation Limited and was a director at the Britannia Steam Ship Insurance Association Limited from 2010 - 2014.
