Assistant Manager, Insurance

Main responsibilities

  • Support the HOD for all insurance renewals by providing statistic, rates and loss records
  • Assist the HOD in reviewing strategy and negotiating tactics
  • Support finance departments on all insurance matters on mortgagee’s requirement
  • Liaise with brokers and underwriters as required
  • Apply and arrange for all insurance related certificates for all vessels
  • Liaise with relevant parties in relation to claims, specifically H&M, P&I, FD&D and LOH
  • Responsible for checking and processing insurance premium notes
  • Provision of timely statistics and ad hoc reports when required
  • Assist with recording and filing of cover notes, addendums and invoices
  • Responsible for running cost budget for all vessels for fleet management and finance department
  • Prepare all reports e.g. monthly claims report and high level claims reports for board meetings
  • Responsible for communicating with 3rd party fleet management on day to day operation matters for vessels managed externally
  • Liaising with various departments on the renewal of various non-marine insurances
  • Provide support and enhancing interdepartmental processes to ensure streamlined procedures with various departments when required
  • Actively participate in the development of the quality management system and engage in the process for the continuous improvement of departmental procedures

Ideal candidate : qualifications and requirements

  • Possess a Diploma, ideally in a maritime or insurance-related discipline
  • 5 years of work experience in Marine insurance, ideally in the shipping industry
  • Strong numerical ability and written language skills
  • Good knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Able to work well under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment
