Main responsibilities

  • Work and interface with business units and IT teams to elicit, capture and analyse business driven application requirements. Perform functional decomposition leading to solution conceptualization and development
  • Deliver projects (i.e. requirements, design, development, testing, deployment and support) with clearly defined and measurable benefits to the business (e.g. on time, in scope, within / below budget)
  • Coordinate with other teams to ensure that projects are managed systematically and in concert to meet business needs
  • Ensure stakeholder (e.g. business units and IT teams) engagement, involvement, and satisfaction with projects and services delivered
  • Establish and maintain an application architecture framework (e.g. principles, modelling standards, processes and templates) and roadmap to guide the transition from the current state to the target state
  • Provide application architecture design, development, and support to internal and external stakeholders for application integration and Business Intelligence (BI) services
  • Develop the expertise of IT teams in application architecture tasks (e.g. modeling, process for defining application requirements, principles and models that align to business requirements)
  • Actively participate and engage in the process for the continuous improvement of departmental procedures
  • Regularly review risk exposure related to the department and recommend corresponding control measure(s) to mitigate risk pursuant to risk management principles, framework and process

Ideal candidate: qualifications and requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in solution specification, architecting, design and development roles
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Solution Engineer in 1 or more complete enterprise projects on the same architecture, preferably in the shipping domain
  • Has experience in:
    • Multiple full software development lifecycle phases, designing enterprise software and defining solution architectures and technology
    • Applying design concepts – Service oriented architecture, layered architectures, components, interfaces, messaging and patterns
    • Web applications, business process management and database design
    • Application integration service support components (e.g. Middleware, message flows, web services, FTP).  Experience with MuleSoft would be an added advantage
    • Designing and integrating applications and SaaS solutions using technology stacks and cloud service providers, such as Microsoft (e.g. Azure, power BI, MS SQL, BizTalk, .NET), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and oracle (e.g. Java, database).  Experience with AWS would be an added advantage
    • BI service support components (e.g. Data warehouse, extract-transform-load processes, databases)
  • Familiarity with software change / configuration management and build processes in a complex environment
