29 June 2026, OSLO – BW LNG was honoured to attend a reception hosted by industry partner GTT at the French Embassy in Oslo, held in the presence of Her Excellency Florence Robine, Ambassador of France to Norway. The event celebrated the longstanding cooperation between France and Norway in advancing the maritime and LNG industries.
At the reception, BW LNG CEO Yngvil Eriksson Åsheim spoke about the future of LNG shipping and a major industry milestone: the launch of the world’s first large-scale 177,000m³ three-tank LNG carriers. The four newbuilds will be ready from Q4 2028.
Developed in collaboration with GTT and HD Hyundai, and approved by leading classification society DNV, the innovative three-tank design combines proven LNG membrane technology with increased cargo capacity, full operational flexibility and a lower boil-off rate, with the industry’s lowest emission profiles.
BW LNG thanks GTT for hosting the event, and its valued partners DNV and HD Hyundai for their collaboration in helping to set new benchmarks in LNG innovation, with safety as our top priority.
