As global LNG demand continues to grow, the next generation of LNG carriers must deliver greater efficiency, flexibility and long-term performance.
Our four LNG newbuildings from HD Hyundai Samho will feature the industry’s first three-tank LNG carrier design with a larger 177k cbm cargo capacity. The vessels are scheduled for delivery from Q4 2028 to Q3 2029.
Developed with GTT and HD Hyundai Group, the design was evaluated and approved by leading classification society DNV. These vessels deliver greater transport efficiency and improved operational flexibility through lower natural BOR at 0.08% combined with a large 2.1 ton/h reliq.
Compared with previous generation LNG carriers, this new design captures the benefits of scale and delivering one of the industry’s lowest emissions profiles through X-DF 2.2 with VCR and shaft generators — future-proofing the design for years to come and resilient to new regulations.
Key benefits include:
• Increased cargo capacity from 174k cbm to 177k cbm
• Full operational flexibility for partial loading conditions
• Lower boil-off rate, reducing natural boil off speed and reliquification power demand
• Lower emissions intensity per delivered cargo
• Proven Mark III membrane technology with reinforced membrane containment systems
By combining innovation with proven technology, BW LNG is proud to deliver energy for the world today and solutions for a lower-carbon future.
