COPENHAGEN/ SINGAPORE, August 17, 2026 – Hafnia has been named the winner of the Danish Shipping Diversity Award 2026. This year’s award, themed “Small changes, big impact,” recognizes smaller initiatives that make a difference in organizational culture and employees’ everyday working lives.
Hafnia was honoured in particular for its Seafarer Advisory Board, referenced by the judges as a model for how crews and management can shape decisions together.
Established in November 2024, the Seafarer Advisory Board is a formal forum that connects Hafnia’s crews directly with onshore management, ensuring operational decisions reflect the lived experience of those at sea. It has eight members – five seafarers from Hafnia’s in-house fleet and three from its technically outsourced fleet – so that perspectives are heard across the full operating model.
The Board meets several times a year, and its input feeds directly into onboard decisions, from reviewing reporting procedures to simplifying risk assessments and improving day-to-day working conditions.
“This award belongs to our seafarers,” said Ralph Juhl, EVP, Head of Technical at Hafnia. “The Advisory Board works because it takes the views of our people who run our vessels seriously – and gives them a direct line to the decisions that affect their working lives. Hopefully helping to create genuinely better conditions when working onboard Hafnia vessels.”
Hafnia congratulates shortlisted nominees Unitankers and ESVAGT. The full press release on the nominations from Danish Shipping can be read here: https://danishshipping.dk/en/latest-news/2026/meet-the-nominees-for-the-danish-shipping-dei-award-2026/
The winner was announced at Danish Shipping’s annual Pride Bar event, and was received by Mia Krogslund Jørgensen, VP, Head of People, Culture & Strategy, and Mikkel Boesen, VP, Head of TECOS (Hafnia’s technically outsourced fleet).
The recognition continues a strong record for Hafnia in diversity and inclusion. At the Danish Shipping Diversity Award, Hafnia previously won in 2022 for the Maritime DEI Lab and in 2024 for the Hafnia Culture Lab. In 2026, Hafnia has also been recognized with the Diversity & Inclusion Honours Award, presented during the High-Level Conference of the Cyprus EU Presidency, and the Crew Welfare Diversity & Inclusion Award from SAFETY4SEA.
