BW LNG, together with BW LPG, was delighted to sponsor Nor-Shipping’s first AfterWork event on 3 June 2025. Organised by YoungShip Oslo in collaboration with Nor-Shipping, the event brings together young minds across the industry to connect, exchange ideas, and gain insights from experienced leaders helping shape the future of global shipping.
Yngvil Eriksson Åsheim, CEO of BW LNG, and Kristian Sørensen, CEO of BW LPG, took the stage alongside industry leaders Bjorn Hammer, CCO of Odfjell SE, and Maren Nygård Basso, Head of Analysis at the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association (Norges Rederiforbund), for a discussion on “Norway’s Role in Global Maritime Leadership,” expertly moderated by Espen Gjerde.
The panel highlighted Norway’s continued leadership in green shipping, driven by strong data, collaboration, and innovation across sectors. LNG remains a viable and affordable alternative to coal, with the global LNG fleet expected to grow significantly. LPG is gaining ground as a practical marine fuel, while the chemical shipping sector is advancing with fuel-flexible designs and wind-assisted technologies. Ammonia is emerging as a potential future fuel, though safety and crew readiness remain key concerns. As the industry explores alternative fuels and new technologies, safety, infrastructure, and training will be critical focus areas.
At BW LNG, we believe that investing in young talent is essential to building a stronger, more sustainable maritime future. We’re proud to support initiatives like Young @ Nor-Shipping that foster connection, insight, and inspiration for the next generation.
