29 May 2024 – BW LNG hosted the management team from Nigeria LNG Limited, BW LNG’s largest charterer, during their recent visit to Norway. Nigeria LNG is BW LNG’s largest charterer with a fleet of eight LNG vessels, each named after states and a river in Nigeria. In addition to a week of fruitful discussions and decarbonisation insights, the teams also visited Equinor, DNV, and the Northern Lights JV.
The Northern Lights JV, Norway’s first major Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project, is a joint-venture between energy majors TotalEnergies, Equinor and Shell to accelerate decarbonisation. CCS is a technological solution designed to capture carbon dioxide emissions and securely store them underground. It will play a major role in the Norwegian climate solution to reach Norwegian and European climate goals. This project is in line with the Norwegian Government’s ambition to develop a full-scale CCS value chain in Norway by 2024. Commissioning and the commencement of operations is expected to begin in 2025, with the first cargoes received from mid-2025.
BW LNG is delighted to share a long-term partnership with Nigeria LNG Limited and looks forward to low-carbon future together.
