Hafnia Bunker Alliance Hosts Maritime Sustainability Briefing on FuelEU, Biofuels, and Fit for 55

22 August 2024, COPENHAGEN – The Hafnia Bunker Alliance hosted a comprehensive Maritime Sustainability Briefing focused on the upcoming changes related to FuelEU Maritime, biofuels, and the EU’s Fit for 55 initiatives.

The event, held on 22 August 2024, brought together over 20 participants, including 16 members of the Hafnia Bunker Alliance, to navigate the complexities of these evolving regulations and share insights into sustainable maritime practices.

The briefing featured presentations from experts from the Hafnia Bunker Alliance, legal counsel Gorrissen Federspiel, and Bureau Veritas Marine Fuel Services. The program included key regulatory shifts and sustainability challenges facing the shipping industry.

The session opened with an in-depth presentation on FuelEU Maritime and its associated challenges, highlighting the regulatory requirements and practical implications for shipowners and operators. This was followed by a discussion on biofuels, sharing real-world experiences and insights gained so far. The briefing also included an overview of the Hafnia Bunker Alliance’s role in supporting members through these transitions, followed by a Q&A session that allowed participants to engage directly with industry experts.
