15 August 2024, COPENHAGEN – Hafnia is proud to announce that we have been awarded the Danish Shipping Diversity Award 2024 for our commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) both onshore and at sea. This marks the second time Hafnia has attained this award, having previously won in 2022 with an additional shortlist in 2023.
The Diversity Award was this year presented at Danish Shipping’s annual event by Member of Parliament Mogens Jensen.
Hafnia was recognized by the jury for its all-encompassing efforts towards driving Diversity, Equity, Belonging, and Equity (DIBE) onshore and at sea, anchored within its corporate strategy.
Initiatives submitted to the jury included the Hafnia Culture Lab, Hafnia’s partnership with the Regional Maritime University of Ghana, the revision of parental and leave entitlements, revision of language in policies and handbooks to be more gender neutral and inclusive, the rollout of Starlink onboard all Hafnia vessels alongside our targets and ambitions and other ongoing efforts.
In accepting the award, Mia Krogslund Jørgensen, VP, Head of People, Culture, and Strategy at Hafnia expressed her gratitude to Danish Shipping for driving awareness of DEI efforts both in Denmark and internationally, congratulating all the great initiatives that member companies are doing.
“On behalf of Hafnia, a huge thank you for this award. I am extremely proud of this recognition, but I am even more proud of our team, as we continuously see progress, ideas, and initiatives. I love that DEI is integrated into all business areas and is not only led by one team. I love that we have full commitment from all leaders and employees, and I love to see the positive impact we are experiencing” stated Mia on receiving the award.
“Hafnia has managed to create a broad concept that is constantly being developed, expanded, and evaluated. Hafnia has, among other things, introduced zero tolerance for bullying and harassment, improved their maternity rules, created inclusive and gender-neutral language across the company, and continued the work with The Hafnia Culture Lab, where the crew of five Hafnia ships consists of at least 50% women. Therefore, the jury has chosen Hafnia as this year’s winner. Extremely well deserved!” said Danish Shipping in commemorating Hafnia’s selection for the award.
Hafnia congratulates its team members onshore and at sea for driving this important topic across our organization. A big congratulations also to the other shortlisted companies, in which we celebrate their achievements alongside our own.
